Hyundai asked my opinion on my Palisade and here is what I told them.

Will they listen? Who knows. This was my long winded reply to the engineering survey sent.

Here is my honest opinion of what you could do to make this vehicle perfect.
Exterior
Exterior is stunning. Fuel door is a little flimsy and I think it might be rattle at times. Not sure though. Would like to see no fuel cap feature but not critical.
I think there might be some wind buffeting noise at highway speeds from caused by the mirrors.
Trailer hitch integration could be better. Even the factory trailer hitch looks like an afterthought.
Auto Folding mirrors would be nice.

Interior.
I love the ambient lighting! Would love to see it change colors with the drive mode selected (red for sport, green for eco. Etc) Also would love to see it change colors gradually through the spectrum. Wish it had the ambient lighting on the dash like the Kia Telluride as well.

Heated leather seats. Not hot enough and don’t heat quick enough. I have had this feature in many vehicles and these are the least effective. There is a gap between the seat back and the seat that does not warm at all and in the winter it feels like there is an ice pack back there. I put a towel in the crease to keep the cold leather off my back.

Heated steering wheel. Love it but the cold plastic trim stays ice cold and takes away from the comfort.

Infotainment.Pretty flawless. The display placement design makes me have to reach for the functions on the far right. Definitely takes your eyes off the road a bit. The buttons as well make you reach a bit. Beautiful design but a little impractical. I think a portrait landscape display will be better in the future and it really helps see upcoming turns for navigation.

I have my doubts the mechanical cup holders will function over time. Crumbs and debris will make them crunchy sounding. Simple molded holders in the future will be better.

The over head buttons for the dome lights should be illuminated. It’s hard to find which one to press in the dark.

A locking glove box would be nice.

Tech features.
When I place my car in a drive mode it should stay there until changed. I like the sport mode. It resorts to comfort upon each start up. This applies to the Auto hold feature as well. I have grown to like it and forget that it’s not on at times.

You cannot unlock passenger side door from the outside. I had the key fob in my pocket and walked around to the passenger side. It would not unlock. I pushed unlock on the remote as well to no effect. It’s frustrating to walk back around to the driver side and unlock the doors.

This vehicle needs auto lock! My 20k car has this. When I walk away with the key fob in my pocket it should automatically lock the doors.

Blue link. Please extend the remote start time a bit. Maybe 12 minutes. My reason is I had a buildup of snow on my car and the ten minutes wasn’t long enough to melt the windshield enough to make clearing the ice/snow easy. Maybe add an alert to the app to allow you to extend it if requested. You should be able to heat the seats remotely as well.

The car is beautiful. These are just some honest opinions and mild concerns.

If they added auto dimming power folding mirrors, Overhead buttons need to be illuminated as well as the homelink buttons on the mirror should come on as soon as door opens. Add choice of 3.8L engine or If they added 3.3TT engine, active suspension, and real wood trim to top of the line edition would be the top SUV in the class.
Maybe sell as an ultimate trim here in the States

Great response and I agree with @Gene, power folding mirrors should have been included.

Yep, power folding mirrors would be great. I'd also love to have an overhead bin for sunglasses. And the nice rubber rear cargo area liner like they sell in Canada.

Chances are they have zero control over either of these. The driving mode at startup is 100% determined by EPA regulations and how they had the vehicle tested and certified. If they tested it to gain the best MPG in eco or normal modes, federal regulation requires those to be the default mode on every startup of the vehicle.

Auto-Hold as well, there is a federal regulation that requires it to be disabled and only be enabled by the driver at startup.

That being said, there are modules you can purchase and install to automatically set these functions for you, but the manufacturers will never do it.

there is a setting under vehicle settings that allows you to choose 1 or 2 pushes of the fob to unlock all the doors. Page 3-9 of your manual.

1 push unlocks the drivers only second push within 3 seconds unlocks all the doors.

Changing the setting to 1 push unlocks all the door with one push of the unlock button on the fob, every Hyundai (almost every manufacturer for that matter) works this way, I’ve owned 4, Genesis G80, Sonata, Santa Fe, and Palisade, all have this option.
