Has anyone check out whether or not standard shocks can be used instead of the self-leveling type that come from the factory?

No. I just told the service writer the technical service bulletin information to have it repaired under warranty.

TSB 22-SS-001H regarding “Palisade (LX2) Rear Shock Absorber Inspection and Upper Insulator Replacement”.
